Most of us carry a deep rooted strand of HYLOPHOBIA – the irrational fear of forests or anything associated with wood.
What spurs this remains a mystery. Maybe it’s the threat of being lost in its darkness?
Perhaps it’s that deep in the forest nobody would hear your cries..or screams!
On a recent field trip, the location was Higher Woodnook Clough, located on the outskirts of a sublime northern village called Baxenden.Was the lost memories have a once colossal & a mighty 'Elm'.
"It had been UNMERCIFULLY ''FELLED'; and all what remained was the twisted macabre silhouettes of the broken". Indiscriminately hacked at, chopped up & left to rot....at the mercy of 'Mother Nature' and her relentless thrashing of the once 'serene' forestry. Wooden decrepitation was rife, and the small plots of wooden imperfections scarred the landscape.
That what remained was nothing more than a 'Foliage' graveyard...A growing pile of self containment, an unexpected 'ARTISTRY' in the form of 'twigs'. From the 'soul of the Sycamore',,..derived the imaginitive.....
.........the mythical JACKALOPE,
